3 months have passed since realising I had seriously high blood pressure and decided to try 90 days on a whole food plant based diet. Just to let you know, I won't be going back. Read this....My blood pressure this evening (I only take it once a week now) was 119/82. Perfect. I'm 18 pounds lighter. I was running perhaps 20km a week in February ... I have run 165km in the last 30 days - including a recovery week of only 15km last week. So, 50km per week average. My May average running pace is my fastest month ever... Despite over 6000 feet of vertical elevation gain in May so far (with more hills to come this week)... So I'm quicker than ever - for the same heart rate - running harder miles than ever. I have had one Humira injection in 3 months... Previously it was every 10 days. I sleep about 2 hours a day less than I used to... Hence time for running, reading (or whatever else I fancy) without impacting on my family time. I prepare Andrea and I delightful meals from scratch every night and feast on fruit and salad for breakfast and lunch. Elliot is beginning to really enjoy my meals now and the girls talk about fruit and vegetables... I even made vegan cheese last night. Pretty insane eh? I now allow myself the odd bit of salt (eg when making my favourite flatbreads or adding a dash of low sodium soy sauce in cooking). I have introduced a small amount of oil back in. I also have the odd bit of chocolate. No harm in any of that... However I'd say my diet is still 99 % whole foods. Nothing processed in months.
Anyway, this is all just normal life for me now. I just wanted to say....
Thanks for your love, support and inspiration. I think I may well be around for many more years for my kiddies. Yay! Paul Reed
Be prepared to change! Brighde Reed has changed me. She took me on an incredible self-learning journey that has continued to question my values and where they lie. She inspired me to become the best person I can be for my health, the animals I love, the planet and humanity. How can a small challenge like becoming 'Vegecated' do all this? It's simple really, when you know all she can teach you there is no going back. This journey has been incredibly enlightening and at times hard, but I know things now I didn't realise before and through this knowledge I can no-longer continue poisoning myself and my world. Thank you so much for putting me onto the right track! You are amazing and I'm sure anyone learning what I have learnt will feel honored to take part in this journey. Sam Pryse
